Tokyo Governor to Tokyo Residents Who Protest Against Disaster Debris from Iwate: "Shut Up"

Now that the radioactive disaster debris from Iwate Prefecture is a fait accompli and ready to be crushed and burned and buried, Shintaro Ishihara, irascible 79-year-old governor of Tokyo who almost single-handedly decided to do this mind-boggling project to "assist the recovery" of Iwate, mentioned the complaints that his government has received over the issue in the press conference on November 4 afternoon.

According to Fuji TV news clip on November 4, the governor said,

『黙れ』って言えばいいんですよ、そんなの。

"Shut up" is all we need to say to these complaints.

誰がそれでどうするの? 力のあるところが手伝わなくちゃ、しょうがないじゃないですか

What could one do? A powerful municipality [like Tokyo] must help [Iwate and other disaster-affected areas] because no one else can.

Fuji TV news also says that 3,000 complaints have been sent to the Tokyo Metropolitan government, over 90% of them protesting against the debris from disaster-affected areas to be transported, processed, crushed and burned and buried in Tokyo Bay.

Well, residents of Tokyo who voted for him in the spring election, isn't it time for his recall?

If the Fuji TV news link disappears (quite likely, since it is hosted at Yahoo Japan), there's a youtube clip, here. The comment section is filled with comments from Japanese people who praise the governor's decision and strong words. (Well they have their job to do, I guess.)

Wiki has some stuff on him,

"In 1989, shortly after losing a highly contested race for the party presidency, Ishihara came to the attention of the West through his book, The Japan That Can Say No (「NO」と言える日本 "No" to ieru Nippon?), co-authored with then-Sony chairman Akio Morita. The book called on his fellow countrymen to stand up to the United States."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shintaro_Ishihara

For ignoring Japanese people w/greater sense than he possesses, and as a way of thanking him for burning radioactive rubble to be re-lofted to the U.S., I invite Ishihara to visit the U.S. where he will undoubtedly be told to 'spit out', his teeth, that is.

As he's quoted w/quite a few stupid remarks, the only thing that could bring more pleasure than an American fist smashing into his goofy face is perhaps for him to be 'found out' w/his live-in boyfriend Sonoda, reactor-water drinker, pursuing their mutual lives of self-dissipation.

lol

This is what happens when young people don't vote. Not that I have a lot of faith in the show we call democracy, but anyway, this is what happens. We have ishihara for the next 4 years now.

"This is what happens when young people don't vote." - I've read that the majority of Japan is an aging population. The young people's votes are possibly outnumbered by those of the old, who likely won't even live long enough to see the effects of radiation decimate the population. This applies to the politicians, as well. It's truly sad and disgusting.

I've always wondered why world leaders have to be old. An assumed lack of experience is nothing compared to senility and personal greed. How many people - old or young - truly care about passing the world down to the next generation? Not many, I'd wager.

On the topic of "blinky" Ishihara, the man is a colossal hypocrite. Among the many other things he's said and done, I find it ironic that he'd encourage Japan to "stand up to the United States" when his actions appear to strongly influence Japan towards mimicking the United States instead.

^ Sorry, I just had to comment on this link. I've been seeing this article re-linked at many of the websites I visit, and I really don't see how Japan is different from any other country.

Everybody just wants to get through their day with minimal problems, so they avoid confrontations by putting on a pleasant face. I see it everywhere, it's part of adult society.

I'm a little guilty of it myself in that I don't bother arguing with people who I know will refuse to listen. I've been labelled "childish" by others for trying to be honest. Everybody knows that children are brutally honest and don't hold back. Adults are the opposite, because they don't want to bother with the consequences, or because they have ulterior motives.

Whenever I say that I've never lied, people don't believe me and laugh in my face. Why? Because everyone expects everyone else to lie. It's the same everywhere.

On a relevant note, I think it's important to understand that even if a person isn't lying, they often don't understand themselves well enough for their words to match their actions. As humans, we're not consistent. We're constantly changing and revising our understanding of ourselves and everything around us.

...I hope I'm not cluttering up the replies with my thoughts. I'd just like others to consider my personal observations.

Ishihara is absolutely right to tell those complaining to shut the fuck up! We Japanese live together and die together. I committed seppuku for all Japanese to remember where they came from.

All you fucking gaijin will never get it. You motherfuckers taking sides with these complaining assholes would sell your mother and countrymen out for a 500 yen coin. We Japanese stick together no matter what happens. Sometimes you got to wipe your neighbors ass even if it is radioactive!

You gaijin commenting and complaining on this site should ask what have you done to help those that have had to live through this shit? Kanto is already contaminated and the destiny of Japan was decided when this area was HAARPed that caused this fucking mess. If you can't stand the cesium in Tokyo and Yokohama, get the fuck out and stop complaining!!

Let's see....why would a politician allow this event to happen? Payoffs! Billions of Yen!

Yeah, so shut up and let me make my billions!

5:38,
Japan certainly has its own clown entertainers, doesn't it?
radiation hotel owners
guy selling us the Fuku peaches w/a smiling face
ten-foot pole technician w/10S claiming he'd only been there several seconds
radiation like an angel's smile
Sonoda reactor water drinker
Ishihara calling evacuators pitiful

7:45,
the writer of the Japan Times piece could have saved himself a lot of time if he'd called it simple duplicity.

"Ishihara, the man is a colossal hypocrite. Among the many other things he's said and done, I find it ironic that he'd encourage Japan to "stand up to the United States" when his actions appear to strongly influence Japan towards mimicking the United States instead."

Ostensibly the only way to explain the indifference of the Japanese politicians to the remainder of the world not wanting them to burn radioactive debris is some sort of convoluted vengeance scene.
So here we have Ishihara telling people to shut up, while there's allegations he had connections to the sarin subway attempt. Fist magnet he is, and I repeat the offer to come 'visit' the U.S.

As for "gaijin", Ishihara appears to be one. Resolve that.
The area was HAARPed ?
None of the animals ever note this harping, yet note other natural earthquakes?
Resolve that.

may i respectfully ask if you committed sepuku, how can it be you are still typing ignorance, or does two acts of ignorance cancel each other out?

Anonymous said...

So you say "the destiny of Japan was decided when this area was HAARPed that caused this (explitive) mess."

Why try to shift blame to far fetch HAARP ideas, Japan built many nuclear power plants in areas that have earthquakes. So what do you expect?

Did you really think over a 100 year period that not one single nuclear plant would be thrashed by an earhquake?

HAARP may be real but what is much more obvious and real is the stupidity of building nuclear power plants in areas that have severe earthquakes.

By blaming HAARP you get to shift the blame from the earthquakes. If HAARP is real or not is not important.

The fact remains that earthquakes existed in Japan for hundreds of years before HAARP could have been invented.

oh god! i teach the young people of japan... and i just don't know. they don't seem to be connected to reality at all. awful, mind numbing j-pop, anime, manga and disney land is all most of them care about unfortunately. kawaii culture. cushy, happy lives for too long. no capacity for critical thought. and the oldies...oh man... all for one, one for all sheeples. nobody wants to rock the boat. i'm sorry, i don't mean to make sweeeping generalizations. guess i'm just frustrated. there is just this apathy...yes, i'm a gaijin but my husbanc is japanese and i love hime dearly. not always so black and white @yukio. you'll be wiping many future generations of deformed mutated japanese asses if you don't face up to this problem and do someting about it. but sure, it is a lot easier to stick your head in the sand. whatever you prefer

Anonymous said...

For yukio comments, Sepuku will solve no problems for the ones that want to live. Why don't you instead put your silly knife away and donate your time to help and serve as a helper at the Fukushima plant?

It is more honarable to commit Sepuku after your cancer from the radiation stops you from being able to help.

Killing your healthy body is you being a coward while others give there life working at the severe conditions at Fukushima in hopes more lives can be saved.

stop being sheep japan and remove these people from office i suppose you will only do that when you all start dying of radiation poisoning and related cancer

Blame HAARP? It has become a convenient way to deflect personal responsibility. This way a whole nation can't be faulted for allowing multiple nuke reactors to be built on the most seismically active coast in the world and running those geezers until they can squeeze every last dime of profit out of them possible. The ultimate dumb criminal cheapskates!

Japanese remembering where they cam from? YOU came from the same place everyone else came from, which is a miasma of cosmic dust. Nothing more, nothing less. If you want to think that you are some special shit then go ahead, but be aware that the universe does not distinguish Japanese-ness as anything "special". Mother nature will prove that to you. Actually it already has, if you take your blinders off.

hahaha

How do they expect people to respond to the spectacle of people knowingly poisoning their children because they know it will cost too much money to not poison them??

You're not frustrated. That's about the size of it. Plus smart phones.
I hate Ishihara. But he has a point. Tokyo citizens are the biggest users of Nuclear Power. They should shut up. No pain, no gain. Responsibility. Build the next Power station in Setagaya. It's radioactive as hell any rate.
Ganbatte Tokyo. Bend over. Payback time. And enjoy your convenience Bento's on the go while you make pocketfulls of cash.
If you dont like it: then leave. After all you Tokyoites are the heart and brains of Japan.
Reap.

Don't say "We Japanese." I'm Japanese and I'd rather be burried in the middle of the most contaminated debris than to stick together with you, live together with you, and die together with you.

Seriously, imagine the Japanese female who'd find Sonoda a worthy sire of her offspring. She'd have to be like a whacked-out Heavy Metal bitch that frequents Iron Maiden concerts, lol.
