Radiation in Japan: No Money to Evacuate Fukushima Children, Says DPJ Politician

Heard it on Twitter. So please take them as jokes. I hope they are jokes, though I don't have any reason to hope so.

From someone who says he heard it live on the radio program on December 29 in Japan:

岡田克也 議員・・・生放送のラジオ番組に出演。リスナーからの質問「福島の子供を、なぜ避難させないのですか?」 岡田議員「お金が掛かるから...」 噂では聴いて いたけど、リアルに聴くことになるとは...

Representative Katsuya Okada appeared on a live radio program. A listener asked him, "Why don't you evacuate children in Fukushima?" Okada answered, "Because it costs money..." I heard it in rumors before but never expected to hear it myself.

Okada is a high-ranking official in the Democratic Party of Japan. The radio program in which Okada was supposed to utter these words is this.

No money to evacuate children but plenty of money (2 trillion yen) to TEPCO.

Well at least Okada was, if he did say this, honest about it. No money. The Japanese government does not have money (public debt to GDP ratio over 200%), as people outside Japan may know but people inside don't.

But another "heard it on Twitter", the alleged word by the mayor of Tomakomai City in Hokkaido who is extremely eager to accept disaster debris from Miyagi and Iwate to burn in his city takes the cake for sheer rudeness and bad taste:

From someone who evacuated from Sendai, Miyagi to Tomakomai City:

苫小牧市長は、本当に無知で失礼。避難者のママさんが子供たちの未来の健康のためにも、ガレキ焼却やめてくださいと陳情に行ったら、「あなた達のような被曝してきた避難者の排泄物の方が環境を被曝させてるって話ありますよ」と言ってのけた。こんな人が市長。

Mayor of Tomakomai City is really ignorant and rude. When mothers who evacuated [from disaster-affected areas to Tomakomai] went to petition him not to burn the disaster debris for the sake of children's health in the future, he had the gall to say "I've heard that the excrement from the irradiated evacuees like yourselves contaminates the environment more with radiation". And he is the mayor.

Well, life is cheap, particularly that of children in Japan. The country is finished as a nation.

Agreed long time ago was finished as many nations these days...

As an outsider I figured Japan was finished back in march. I gave up mentioning it to people as no one wants to listen.

But to read on this blog that you're of the same belief, well, I guess the consensus has grown.

We seem to be in the early stage of a super historical event, whether there'll be anyone left in the world to learn from it is another story yet to unfold.

If it's the end of Japan, no long after, it's the end for us all.

They have money to spend to kill. Japan sends millions of Fukushima recontruction dollars to kill more whales!

"...that the excrement from the irradiated evacuees like yourselves contaminates the environment more with radiation..."

They are making them feel like historical hibakushas. They suggest imlicitly that these evacuated people are pariah that you'd better keep distance from, because of the "health danger" they'd pose...

And it makes me ask whether "lesser individuals" are still valued as worth nothing like in Imperial Japan.

More shocking, if it is possible :

It is a very nimble move to declare no harm to human health and then ostracize the population for the negative effects this will have on them and their children.
"lesser individuals"have little value worldwide. The mayor of Tomakomai should have all the excrement of the children delivered to him on a daily basis.

I agree with the last comment. That mayor is a pig.

This is the kind of thing that just makes me crazy. There are so many people in Japan asking for help or demanding change. It is like every politician is suffering from some sort of insanity. They don't get it and they seem to really just not care.

Insanity. That's the word. Sad thing is that many ordinary citizens just cannot believe it's possible for the ruling class to be this insane.

FYI, TV Asahi ran a three hour special show on Fukushima this week. First expose was on the No. 1 reactor, which Asahi claimed experienced such severe damage by the earthquake that it caused a major leak in the rector cooling system piping. This loss of cooling caused detection of radiation "over-scale" only three hours after the quake and prevented workers from manually venting No. 1 reactor...this was documented on the White board used by the TEPCO crew in the reactor control center. Asahi also makes the connection of the Xenon gases detected globally and the detection of over-scale radiation within reactor no. 1. Based on simulations, Xenon emissions from Fukushima commenced roughly three hours after the quake, indicating that the tsunami was not the initial cause for massive radiation leakage.

Second expose made by the broadcast was the use of SPEEDI in October, 2010 by the Japanese Government in a nuclear response drill...the video showed PM Kan and others using SPEEDI charts in the drill months before the actual meltdowns! I'm looking for a recording of this Asahi News Station special...it should be translated and dissimulated widely.
