I haven't seen report of any numbers from last night, except for Asahi saying the count by police was 10,000.

As they said 17,000 last time, it would seem the number of protestors is down. This is not a statistic that should be kept quiet.

If the numbers are down, all of the Japan demonstrators who came to prior events need to know about it, so they will re-double efforts to bring more people out on the 20th.

This issue is not over. Japan government is working on its future energy policy right now. If they think the anti-nuke ferver is diminishing, they will be more slow to renounce nuclear power. Get out in the street. Bring your friends and co-workers. Bring your neighbors and families. Invite your relatives from your home prefecture to visit and attend with you. Bring the person standing next to you on the subway. Make your voices heard by joining en force on 20-JUL.

I think the organizers were unable to even estimate, because of the police effectively cutting off the protest into small groups, with each group unable to connect with the others. Fantastic. I wonder who their consultant is.

As to the redoubling of the effort, I'm not sure after reading several tweets from clearly young 20-somethings complaining that "baby-boomer" generation protesters were "complaining to the police and the media loudly" and therefore "very rude". Duh. Babies like these should stay home.

Maybe people who tweeted against complaining loudly did not feel comfortable when that happened.

However I am not sure politeness is the name of the game here: PM Noda politely restarted 2 npps against the will of some 70% of the Japanese population however I only have very coloful ways to describe what he has done, none of them is even close to being polite.

Please keep joining the demonstrations, even if there is a chance you will not feel at ease: the more we are the better it is.
