The data is not entered yet in TEPCO's plant parameter page. The last measurement of the location - RPV Bottom Part - is at 11AM on February 5, at 68.6 degrees Celsius (as reported in the previous post).
So it went up 3.1 degrees Celsius in 5 hours, the sharpest rise yet since February 1.
From Jiji Tsushin (8:16PM 2/5/2012):
2号機原子炉、70度超に上昇=冷却水増加で対応-福島第1
Reactor 2 RPV temperature at Fukushima I Nuke Plant risen above 70 degrees Celsius, TEPCO increases water injection
TEPCO announced on February 5 that one of the thermometers on the bottom of the Reactor Pressure Vessel of Reactor 2 at Fukushima I Nuclear Power Plant registered 71.7 degrees Celsius at 4PM. The location is one of several temperatures that [the company uses] to gauge the situation. The temperature there has risen sharply since it registered 52.0 degrees Celsius at 11PM on February 1. However, at two other locations at the same height, the temperatures remain steady around 45 degrees Celsius. TEPCO is considering the possibility of instrument failure, but in the meantime has increased the amount of water injected into the reactor by 1 tonnes, to 9.6 tonnes/hour and see if it makes difference.
The new safety regulation approved by the Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency after the March 11, 2011 accident specifies that it is considered "deviation from operational limit" when the temperature taken at the standard locations reaches 80 degrees Celsius or the amount of injection water is increased by 1 tonnes [per hour?] per day, and the local municipalities have to be notified. TEPCO is planning the analysis of the gas inside the reactor in order to maintain the "cold shutdown state" where the temperature remains 100 degrees Celsius and lower and to prevent "recriticality" where the melted fuel starts nuclear chain reaction.
I wonder if the local municipalities have been notified.

ALL reactors are on "cold shutdown", lawyer Hosono said. Where is the problem??
Go away, nothing to see, the shopping maybe with you, laugh and smile, please !!
Going to be rainy and winds from the NE today and tomorrow on the Miura Peninsula - great.....
Spray the liquid nytrogen directly on the thermometer and take the temp reading immediatly after. Good chance that cold shutdown temp will be acheived again!
Only trouble is that people around the world are detecting a lot of radiation.
Even in Australia and New Zealand they are recording dangerous amounts of activity in the wind and as fallout.
The media is ignoring this
I think there's a question nobody has answered yet. Why mess from the start of the reactors were not buried in concrete and fell boron as in Chernobyl?.
Personally I think it has sidoasí genocidal elites caused the disaster and wanted to keep for the radiation poisoning was the maximum possible, but I am very surprised that honest and sincere analysts did not raise the "siolución" Chernobyl (throwing boron and bury the reactor in a concrete sarcophagus).
Can you please answer to this question?
Best wishes and congratulations on your work objective, courageous and permanent.
Sincerely, Keira
Don't worry just one reactor going over 80 degrees..it's ok. We are still in cold shut down!! (According to this man: http://www.47news.jp/CN/201202/CN2012020601002023.html)
Cold shutdown hmm?
It like saying a fire that was burning at 2000 degrees, is now 1500 degrees....much colder! Too bad that it's, STILL ON FIRE!
Great wording to try and make everyone feel happy and safe!!
Cold shutdown....it's only believed to be in that condition when, it's cold to the touch!
Now they say they'll inject boron acid again, but don't say why they deem this necessary.
fissio is going`on otherwise they dont use boron acid

Some good info on that check it out..
how can you have a cold shutdown in a melt down and containment breach?
please dont insult our ignorance, we know whats going on here and the people who lie will be held accountable one day
"How can you have a cold shutdown in a melt down
and containment breach?"
Exactly! It was obvious to me that the containment vessels were breached within weeks, if not days. I believe that the whole cold shutdown crap is just for show. A tax write-off for TEPCO? Interesting to note that the US is moving 4700 troops from Okinawa to Guam, the Phillipines, Hawaii, or Australia as per an article at rense.com this morning. I think they know what is about to happen (entirely predictable)and are busy packing as we speak. Thanks again to Ex-SKF for getting the truth out!
Are you OK, Ultraman ?
No news today...
Perhaps Ultraman is out enjoying the rain, taking a break from the screen. Enjoy the day, friend!
Hi,
Just wanted to thank you once again for your work on this blog, and share this powerful video:
Frying Dutchman - humanERROR
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Q5p283KZGa8
Yes, okotowari, I too was going to share that same video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5p283KZGa8 It has made more sense than anything else on this since March 11.
Are you ok? No news in Japanese or English, and no tweets... hm... hope you are enjoying yourself and not tied up otherwise.
No news from here is bad news. I hope you are well, Arevamirpal::laprimavera?
All best wishes to you from Germany
@laprimavera:
Really, I hope you are well and will be back soon. Hope it is not the sciatic nerve again.
If you need a break from this epic effort of informing the world what is going on in Japan, please just let us know with a short message. Everybody will understand and accept this and look forward to when you come back. Not only your readers will be happy, but much other media too, who depend on your information and report it to people, without giving you the due credit. I believe that the effect of your information work is way larger than most here assume.
Again, I hope you are well! My big thanks for your great work and my best wishes also from Germany!
where are you, dude?
Waiting the return of Ultraman, you can go to
Fukushima Diary or Enenews.
I am very worried about this heroic source of info. We have learnt not to trust anyone but SKF, FD & ENE. Information is the only weapon of self-defense we have against the people who sacrifice children.
To Anon at 6h09 AM:
We have information, yes, but we can do something else, like to send a postcard to Asako House.
Did Ultraman posted this information ?
See the Tokyobrowntabby video, she explains what to do :

I do it every month, like many french people now. It is a symbolic action, but efficient, too.
There is also tec-sim.de, a good and reliable German-language site operated by the nuclear safety professional Christoph Mueller, partly in English, too. One of the very few sites that is able to give thorough technical details about the issue.
But ex-skf really is unique, as he knows Japanese, can tell us what is available only in Japanese and doesn't pick up every rumor and fake information like Enenews and Fukushima Diary often do.
I really hope nothing bad happened to LaPrimavera.
Good point Atomfritz, Sometimes Enenews and Fukushima Diary dont really vet their information and pick up rumours, it discredits the whole truth movement, but EX SKF is very on the ball and dismisses the bullshit, his is no nonsense blogging which is vital right now in the face of the incredible lies and sick distortions by the Main Stream Media regarding the Elephant in the room called Fukushima...

i am fine just busy. thanks for the concern.
areva, running around getting stuff for valentine's day, eh?
I don't trust Fukushima Diary posts. The guy doesn't seem to know much about anything, bad and misleading translation distorting the facts.
Fukushima Diary is shamelessly sensational, and appeals only to those looking for spectacle. Stick with Ultraman.
