(OT) UN Goes For Guns

Drudge Report page image (4/2/2013)

Mr. Obama wants to use more executive orders, bypass the Congress and create sweeping gun-control legislation. Mr. Obama's supporters urge him to do so.

I guess there is nothing better to do for these people.

Meanwhile, town of Nelson in Georgia passed the law requiring the head of each household to own a gun to keep crime down.

It is very interesting that in the both sides of the Pacific Ocean (the US and Japan) the current administrations are eager to trash their respective Constitutions.

In case of Japan, members of LDP want to ditch "inalienable fundamental human right" in their Constitution, and replace it with certain rights as long as citizens fulfill their obligations. They want to ditch the Article 9, so that they can send the Self Defense Force to wars being fought by Japan's allies (i.e. the US).

After LDP and its coalition partners win majority in the Upper House election in July (it's a given, because of the disarray of the remaining opposition), "amending" the Constitution will be the first thing they will do. Shintaro Ishihara, who says he's recovered from a minor stroke, and his sidekick boy-wonder mayor of Osaka who looks increasingly tired and petulant will be more than happy to cooperate.

He's a Joker, He's a Smoker, He's Barack Obama...

(I don't know if he's a "midnight toker".)

According to the government mouthpiece outfit called CNBC citing Reuters, Obama wants to shed rules that hurt job growth, and he so instructs his courtesans by issuing a presidential fiat called "executive order".

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHaaahhhh...

So is he willing to undo all the job-killing, wealth-transferring legislation he and his minions in the House and the Senate enacted in the past two years?

For more on this hilarity, read on:

President Barack Obama Tuesday ordered a government-wide review of regulations with the goal of eliminating those that hurt job creation and make the U.S. economy less competitive.

Obama took action after unveiling his plan in an op-ed piece in the Wall Street Journal in which he said some rules have placed "unreasonable burdens on business — burdens that have stifled innovation and have had a chilling effect on growth and jobs."

The executive order marked Obama's latest move to repair relations with U.S. business, which were frayed amid bitter debate over his overhauls of Wall Street regulations and healthcare that some business leaders said would stymie corporate America.

Obama has struck a more business-friendly tone since his Democrats lost the U.S. House of Representatives and saw their Senate majority reduced in November congressional elections widely seen as a verdict on his handling of the stumbling economy and persistently high unemployment.

It looks he wants to remain president for another term. Anything to get elected again, to feel that lovin' feeling of an enthusiastic crowd cheering him on and on and on and on ....

Obama Signs Exec Order to Achieve "Lifestyle Behavior Modification"

Never waste a good crisis (even when the crisis - BP oil spill - has nothing to do with lifestyle behavior modification).

It's all for our own good. As increasingly cynical Zero Hedge reports:

Obama Begins "Lifestyle Health Modification" Program, Mandating Behavioural Changes Within US Society (Tyler Durden, 6/13/2010 Zero Hedge)

"Last week, with little fanfare, among the ever deteriorating oil spill crisis, the White House quietly noted the issuance of an executive order "Establishing the National Prevention, Health Promotion, and Public Health Council", in which the president, citing the “authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America” is now actively engaging in "lifestyle behavior modification" for American citizens that do not exhibit "healthy behavior." At least initially, the 8 main verticals of focus will include: smoking cessation; proper nutrition; appropriate exercise; mental health; behavioral health; sedentary behavior; substance-use disorder; and domestic violence screenings."

The actual executive order that's linked in the paragraph above does say "lifestyle behavior modification". It establishes the Council as in the title of the order, plus the advisory board. These are on top of the huge and numerous councils and boards to be established by the health care "reform" bill that was passed and signed into law, unfortunately for majority of Americans who still oppose it.

Zero Hedge as this observation at the end:

"Tangentially, we wonder if the president and the head of the House Financial Services Committee have kicked their respective tobacco/KFC habits yet."

Probably haven't. That may be why they want to drag the entire nation in kicking their respective habits. Much like ancient kings and emperors demanded that his wives, slaves, their favorite horses and hapless subjects selected for the occasion, be killed so that they could accompany him when he died.

BTW, just so you know, the federal officials wants to ban peanuts on commercial flights to alleviate fears of 1.8 million Americans who has peanut allergies.

Obama May Limit Fishing Access

Isn't there anything left that he doesn't limit?

Oh I forgot. Plenty, now I think about it: The size of the federal government, the size of federal deficit, the size of his convoy, the size of bonus for Fannie, Freddie, AIG top execs, Wall Street execs, the trading practices of big financial institutions, use of OTC derivatives, power of the Federal Reserve, to name a few...

But the president, presiding over the deep recession triggered by the financial crisis, is busy limiting fishing.

Culled out: Obama administration will accept no more public input for federal fishery strategy (Robert Montgomery, 3/9/2010 ESPN)

"The Obama administration will accept no more public input for a federal strategy that could prohibit U.S. citizens from fishing the nation's oceans, coastal areas, Great Lakes, and even inland waters.

"This announcement comes at the time when the situation supposedly still is "fluid" and the Interagency Ocean Policy Task Force still hasn't issued its final report on zoning uses of these waters.

"That's a disappointment, but not really a surprise for fishing industry insiders who have negotiated for months with officials at the Council on Environmental Quality and bureaucrats on the task force. These angling advocates have come to suspect that public input into the process was a charade from the beginning.

""When the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) completed their successful campaign to convince the Ontario government to end one of the best scientifically managed big game hunts in North America (spring bear), the results of their agenda had severe economic impacts on small family businesses and the tourism economy of communities across northern and central Ontario," said Phil Morlock, director of environmental affairs for Shimano.

""Now we see NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) and the administration planning the future of recreational fishing access in America based on a similar agenda of these same groups and other Big Green anti-use organizations, through an Executive Order by the President. The current U.S. direction with fishing is a direct parallel to what happened in Canada with hunting: The negative economic impacts on hard working American families and small businesses are being ignored.

""In spite of what we hear daily in the press about the President's concern for jobs and the economy and contrary to what he stated in the June order creating this process, we have seen no evidence from NOAA or the task force that recreational fishing and related jobs are receiving any priority."

"... Perhaps not so coincidentally, the New York Times reported on Feb. 12 that "President Obama and his team are preparing an array of actions using his executive power to advance energy, environmental, fiscal and other domestic policy priorities."

"Morlock fears that "what we're seeing coming at us is an attempted dismantling of the science-based fish and wildlife model that has served us so well. There's no basis in science for the agendas of these groups who are trying to push the public out of being able to fish and recreate.

""Conflicts (user) are overstated and problems are manufactured. It's all just an excuse to put us off the water."" [Emphasis is mine. The article continues.]

Sounds all too familiar. Climategate, anyone?

So this president, who accused his predecessor of using the executive fiat too often, is using the same executive fiat to create this "task force", make a token gesture of "accepting public input", and will sign into a new law by the executive fiat the recommendations offered by the task force that was created by the executive fiat.

Toward the end of the article, Chris Horton, national conservation director for BASS says the following:

"With what's being created, the same principles could apply inland as apply to the oceans," he said. "Under the guise of 'marine spatial planning' entire watersheds could be shut down, even 2,000 miles up a river drainage from the ocean."

Pretty soon, no one will be able to fish, because the president will have so decreed. Commercial fishing has been already made a villain. Now recreational fishing.

Obama "Humphreys" the Deficit by Setting Up a Panel

by executive fiat to study how to reduce federal deficit.

What's "Humphrey", you ask? It's from Sir Humphrey Appleby, a fictional character in a British comedy, a staunch defender of the status quo, who advises a newbie Minister that they form a committee when they don't want to find out about anything.

Obama sets up deficit panel without help from Hill (2/18/2010 AP via Yahoo Finance)

"WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama signed an order Thursday unilaterally creating a bipartisan commission to rein in unruly deficits after Congress rejected a similar body with considerably more enforcement power.

"In making the announcement, Obama said that unless lawmakers put aside partisan differences, the continuing red-ink trend could "hobble our economy."

"The federal deficit hit a record $1.4 trillion last year and could grow larger this year as the struggling economy puts a big dent in tax collections.

""It will cloud our future and it will saddle every child in America with an intolerable burden," he said before signing an executive order establishing the commission." [The article continues.]

Is this some kind of sick joke? This guy is surpassing FDR in terms of government spending; he just signed a bill that raised the debt limit by $1.9 billion which may carry us till the end of February; his 2011 budget is $3.8 trillion.

He IS the cause for "the continuing red-ink trend", and he is the one who "will cloud our future and saddle every child in America with an intolerable burden". The red-ink trend will continue not because of partisan differences but because of his government's spending.

I can tell him, so can the majority of this country, how to reduce deficit without wrecking the country's tax-paying middle class and without creating a panel stuffed with some august appointees.

Stop spending.

(By the way, speaking of executive orders, do you remember what Obama's last two executive orders were? One was to confer full diplomatic immunity to INTERPOL, and the other was to create the council of governors for national security.)
