President Obama's Special 9-11 Message Only for Yomiuri Shinbun

Oh isn't it interesting...

Yomiuri Shinbun says US President Obama has sent a special message to Yomiuri on the occasion of the 10-year anniversary of September-11.

Yomiuri Shinbun (1:09AM JST 9/11/2011):

2001年9月、ハイジャック機が米ニューヨークの世界貿易センター(WTC)ビルやワシントン郊外の国防総省など3か所に突入、墜落して計約3000人を殺害した同時テロから11日で10年を迎える。

It has been 10 years since the simultaneous terrorist attacks when hijacked airplanes hit the World Trade Center buildings in New York and the Pentagon outside the Washington D.C. on September 11, 2001, killing 3,000 people.

WTC跡地ではオバマ大統領も出席して追悼式典が行われ、犠牲者の鎮魂を祈る。

At the "Ground Zero" at the World Trade Center, a commemorative ceremony will be conducted to pray for the victims. President Obama will also join.

On September 10, President Obama wrote a guest editorial for Yomiuri Shinbun titled "Indispensable Partnership". In the editorial, the president said "There's always the United States as the partner, for countries and people who want a peaceful, prosperous future. The United States is currently facing an economic problem, but is determined to play a leading role incomparable in the world". Touching on the relationship between the US and Europe and the Islamic countries that grew tense after the terrorist attacks, the president emphasized, "The United States is not at war with Islam, and will never be". (The president's editorial will be carried on "The Daily Yomiuri" on September 11.)

It is not President Obama's (or his writer's) own words that you see in the above paragraph. It's my translation of Yomiuri's translation, which will not match the original English verbatum.

Why was this paper, Yomiuri, selected as the vehicle for a guest editorial by a US President?

Yomiuri Shinbun has a colorful history in Japan. After Matsutaro Shoriki bought the then-small Yomiuri Shinbun in 1924, one year after the "Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923" with the help from the earthquake recovery agency, it went on to acquire huge national readership. In 1950s, the paper was used as one of the vehicles whereby Shoriki pushed for nuclear energy and promoted it extensively to the Japanese who were leery and suspicious of anything nuclear after the two bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki and the Daigo Fukuryumaru's Bikini Atoll accident in 1954. The other "vehicle" was Nippon Television, where Shoriki served as the president. Extensively using both media, Shoriki, who in 1956 became the first head of the Science and Technology Agency specifically created to promote nuclear energy in Japan, successfully turned around the extremely negative sentiment among the Japanese concerning nuclear energy into that of ardent support. In 1965, Japan's first nuclear reactor went critical in Tokai-mura in Ibaraki Prefecture.

Shoriki was a former high-ranking official in the pre-war Interior Ministry, and he was incarcerated in Sugamo Prison as a Class-A war criminal but later released. In the post World War II days he was an CIA operative with a code name "podam" and "pojacpot-1 ". It is said that both the US and Shoriki were interested in pushing the national television network and the nuclear power in Japan.

Yomiuri remains unabashedly pro-nuke.

Old ties die hard, and the President of the United States sends a 9-11 message only to this particular newspaper.

(Matsutaro Shoriki's information from Japanese wikipedia and other sources in Japanese.)

Iranian President Got Applause for his UN Speech on 9/11

and the US delegation walked out.

As a financial blogger, I find it amusing that the US delegation walked out on his 9/11 theory but didn't, on his comment on capitalism being the cause of poverty.

Anyway, neoconservatives are fuming, alongside the US government whose delegation walked out. Here's one of them:

Applause for Ahmadinejad (9/23/2010 Fox News)

"He was greeted by applause when he walked into the United Nations General Assembly, and applauded again, even after questioning 9/11 and claiming that the American government may have been behind the attack.

"That’s right, applauded after questioning the motivation for the terrorist attacks, who was responsible for them, and essentially suggesting they were a U.S. plot.

"...On Tuesday, when Ahmadinejad spoke during the global summit on poverty, the American delegation remained even as he predicted the defeat of capitalism.

"But true to form, he quickly went over the line with his 9/11 remarks and that prompted the U.S. diplomats, and others, to get up and walk out.

"But as Ahmadinejad walked from the podium, he did so rewarded by applause in the august chamber of the world body." [The full article at the link above.]

So what exactly is Ahmadinejad's theories about 9/11? According to AP,

1. That a “powerful and complex terrorist group” penetrated U.S. intelligence and defenses.

2. That some segments within the U.S. government orchestrated the attack to reverse the declining American economy and its grips on the Middle East in order also to save the Zionist regime.

3. That the attack was the work of “a terrorist group but the American government supported and took advantage of the situation.

So, the Iranian president proposes that either the US intelligence was compromised, or the US government orchestrated the attack, or the US government was complicit and took advantage of the situation (and introduced the monstrosity like the Patriot Act).

Obama's former Green Czar had the same doubts... Oh wait, he had to resign. Over 80% of Americans thought (probably still think) that the government was hiding something. Oh wait, the non-ruling class is irrelevant. And so-called Tea Partiers of Sara Palin's and her cohort's variety are all for bombing Iran anyway.

I'm sure either the CIA or the State Department recorded which delegation applauded after the speech (all of them?) and will take appropriate retaliatory measures.

September 11, 2001

On this day, I'll remember all the people who perished on that fateful day 9 years ago in the World Trade Center buildings, fire fighters and policemen and volunteers who tried to save as many people as possible, and the families who lost their loved ones.

It should never have been about:

Koran burning,

Islam vs Christianity,

Ground-Zero mosque,

all of which seem to have been quickly foisted upon us just in time so that we forget what the day was about. It all started to accelerate when President Obama suddenly decided to speak out in favor of the Ground-Zero mosque/community center, citing, of all things, the US Constitution. Wag the dog.

It was the day that America as we knew died. Much like September 2008 when the financial system - lifeblood of a free market and thus of a free society - died. In a way, September 2008 financial market collapse was long-time coming; it was inevitable after the country had "died" seven years prior. For both deaths, we still don't know how they happened; hastily enacted measures have most likely made things worse, be it the Patriot Act, or the doubling of the Federal Reserve balance sheet and market intervention.

Instead of burning Koran, why don't they burn the symbol of oppression in the United States - the Patriot Act which was pressed on us immediately after 9/11 and which keeps on taking away our rights?

(Who is this pastor who wanted to burn Koran, anyway?)

To a small faction of the Christian opponents of the Ground Zero mosque who are confusing the radical Islam with the far more moderate form of Islam as practiced in many parts of the world (Indonesia and Malaysia come to mind as an excellent example - and they are smart too, for using gold coins): Do you know that the Koran venerates Jesus Christ?

And as for this Sufi imam who picked that site as his mosque/community center precisely because it is only two blocks away from the Ground Zero, as alleged by this blogger at Forbes, is it OK for him to be overtly provocative and insensitive just because he is a Muslim? (Or just because the US is occupying the Muslim countries?) Does it bother anyone that he is a regular at Davos meetings (World Economic Forum) and that his trips to Middle East have been paid for by the US government? A total insider approved by PTB (power that be)?

So-Called "Ground Zero" Mosque May Get Public Financing

Reuters reports:

"(Reuters) - The Muslim center planned near the site of the World Trade Center attack could qualify for tax-free financing, a spokesman for City Comptroller John Liu said on Friday, and Liu is willing to consider approving the public subsidy.

"The Democratic comptroller's spokesman, Scott Sieber, said Liu supported the project. The center has sparked an intense debate over U.S. religious freedoms and the sanctity of the Trade Center site, where nearly 3,000 perished in the September 11, 2001 attack.

""If it turns out to be financially feasible and if they can demonstrate an ability to pay off the bonds and comply with the laws concerning tax-exempt financing, we'd certainly consider it," Sieber told Reuters.

"Spokesmen for Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Governor David Paterson and the Islamic center and were not immediately available." [The article continues.]

Gulf Oil Spill: Obama Says It's His 9/11

and not his Katrina. That's bad news for us.

Drudge Report's headlines are often priceless. I had to screen capture this one, past midnight on June 15.
As Louisiana governor finally stops waiting for BP or the federal government and takes the matter in his own hands, Obama visits the Gulf region, enjoys a snowcone on a white-sand beach. Come on down and have fun, people!

(I wonder how many workers it took to pretty up the beach for the presidential visit. Oh I get it. He is stimulating a job growth in the region.)

But Mr. President, the bright sandy beaches are not so much of of an issue. It is under the ocean surface. The real problem is under the ocean floor, for that matter. It sure made a nice photo op though, that sandy beach with beach umbrellas. I bet the food was excellent, too.

This segment is placed in the center column, right below the Drudge Report banner. Above the banner, a headline screams in capital letter "OBAMA SAYS: IT IS LIKE 911" which links to the article on Daily Mail UK.

9/11 enabled his predecessor to wage wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, which Obama continues, and to hoist Patriot Act on us which Obama has expanded. Now he is declaring this oil spill as his "9/11". (So BP is Al Qaeda?)

Never waste a crisis. If there is no crisis, make one, so that you can push the agendas that would never see the light of day under the normal circumstance. For having done almost nothing except for looking and talking tough for nearly two months amid two vacations, parties, and rounds of golf, he sure has created a greater crisis and disaster than what might have been.

I'm not particularly holding my breath to see what kind of agendas will be forced on us as the result of this Obama's 9/11.
