#Fukushima Governor Requested TEPCO to Say "No Health Worries" After Reactor 3 Explosion

(Ah, but you don't need to believe it, because that's what TEPCO recorded in the video. "TEPCO lies", remember? They must have fabricated the scene.)

From Jiji Tsushin (8/24/2012):

「健康心配ない」広報要請か=3号機爆発、福島県が東電に

Fukushima Prefecture requested TEPCO for "No health worries" PR after Reactor 3 explosion?

TEPCO announced on August 24 that it was highly likely that officials of the Fukushima prefectural government requested [TEPCO] to make the public announcement that "there are no worries on health" when the Reactor 3 building had a hydrogen explosion on March 14 last year. The Fukushima prefectural government says, "There is no concrete information, and the investigation is difficult."

In the video footage of the teleconferences that TEPCO has made public, a TEPCO employee is heard saying "There has been a request from the governor of Fukushima to insert the words in our press release to say there will be no worries of damage to health judging by the radiation levels that have been measured." When this particular scene was reported in the media, Governor Yuhei Sato denied he had ever said it, and asked TEPCO to investigate the matter on August 10.

I think it's more likely that it was not TEPCO who didn't want the free and open access to all the video recording.

Fukushima Governor Yuhei Sato once said he was the most famous governor in the whole world thanks to the Fukushima nuclear accident.

The reactor 3 building did not have a hydrogen explosion.

The reactor core suffered a catastrophic failure due to an overpressure from a runaway nuclear reaction. Anyone can easily see this to be the case, if you merely compare the #1 explosion to the #3 explosion.

It launched deadly nuclear materials into the air, and whoever breathed that air, is likely suffering serious health problems right now, or will begin to in the very near future.

If someone ordered others to cover this up and if others carried out those orders, then they all are criminals against humanity.

You cannot simply ignore the danger of one of the most dangerous substances on earth and tell people there is no worries on health - when the exact opposite is known true.

Those people are responsible for untold sufferings to come - Not warning others of impending doom is one of the most heinous ethical crimes that can be committed. - they should be incarcerated, tried and hanged if found guilty.

Try drawn and quarter before hanging..they need to suffer as much as the innocent children they have doomed to cancer and health defects.

So Yuhei Sato said that.
What did the neighbouring governers, the national government, METI, NISA, JNES do and say ?
And the free press ?
The political and hierarchical system(s) of Japan look like a corium, feets under ground, grinding, grinding deeper in its grave.
Will the Japanese wait some 40 years until it gets better ? If Japan does not collapse before.

Actually this is the normal procedere at nuclear mishaps to prevent panics.

Bad luck for the govt that this got recorded.

But, to be fair, it must be said that even US state govt does the same things. Remember the pacifying messages after TMI and the delayed evacuation when the danger could no longer be denied.

Thank you LaPrimavera for reporting this very interesting detail of the govt betraying its own people!

Every time I hear or read about the explosion at unit 3 of Fukushima Daiichi here in Japan I always hear the qualifier "hydrogen" attached to "explosion". Without fail, I am tempted to say.
Is this the official final answer on the nature of the explosion or is it just a temporary assessment and the media trade it for a factual information just because they are lazy or because they are part of the PRopaganda machine?

Put Fukushima Governor and his family into the Fukushima Daiichi reactors. His actions are unforgivable.

Anyone that say's or has said readition is ok or in some way is good for you, should proe it by spending at least a week if not more working inside reactor 3 without any kind hasmat gear!
And that should include tepco and goverment officals and these siceance people saying stupid things like the news is playing on this for rateings or saying well they might have gotten sick anyway...If they are so sure then lets ask them to prove it...if they have the ball's that is!

Atomfritz says "Actually this is the normal procedure at nuclear mishaps to prevent panics".

Astonishingly I think you are correct.

However there has never in history been a release of radiation like this one.

Not even close. There has never been hundreds of pounds of fine plutonium dust blown into the atmosphere.

So if they think because it's been done in the past, they should do the same thing now is downright criminal in this case.

And I think those criminals in the Japanese government and yes those in the US government - including the President of the United States, who should have had the balls to tell the truth to the people.

Instead they chose to lie. And that lie is criminal.

Latest rumor about the boy-wonder of Osaka is that he may be running for office from Tokyo.. Go figure. I guess people in Osaka are getting quite fed up with his antics.

Actually lying is normal procedure for all major catastrophes or possible catastrophes. The governments of the world came to the conclusion long ago that perjury is preferable to panic and pandemonium regardless of how many people die. They don't want you clogging up the roads when they need to escape or buy up all the clean food and water. If the public knew the full depths of deception practiced by their governments for "their own good" it would make the Apocalypse look like a Sunday church social. Government officials don't want a bunch of panicky pissed off people competing with them for space in the "lifeboats".

Back in the good old days of the cold war the US had a civil defense program that encompassed the entire country. Schools, churches and many government buildings were designated as fallout shelters and stocked with emergency supplies and radiation detection devices. The fact is this was a PR campaign to give the public a false hope they could survive a nuclear war. The Government knew early on "duck and cover" was a ridiculous farce only a select few would actually survive in their deep and fully stocked bunkers. By the mid 1950's the size and shear number of nuclear weapons in play made annihilation a forgone conclusion. By the 1980's the government started quietly closing fallout shelters across the country and selling off the radiation detection devices as surplus. I remember when I was in high school in the 1980's we found the school's Civil Defense supplies while looking for some extra chairs. All of the food and medicine was dated 1962 and older our Principal didn't even know it was there. There was actually 50 ampules of morphine and other heavy narcotics in the medicine box (it was turned over to the police) From what I saw it didn't seem like enough supplies for a school full of victims. We open a tin of civil defense peanut butter it smelled like dirt and was hard on one side and gooey and dark on the other where the oil separated.

Civil Defense was eventually handed off to FEMA we all know how incompetent they were during Katrina could you imagine them helping you after a full scale nuclear disaster?

Going way off topic here (with due excuses to our gracious host):

Even by the time of the Cuban missile crisis, the USSR did not pose an existential threat to the US. Ever heard of the "missile gap"? Look it up. In the context of period Soviet weapons (few, huge, dirty, imprecise) they would have risen survivor rates quite significantly.

Duck and cover was similarly non-bullshit, although it may have been interpreted (or indeed, pushed) for what it was not. The idea was that by teaching everyone to do that, you gain a few percent survivors and avoid a few percent of the blindnesses and serious projectile injuries.

As this is/was supposedly a measure to prevent panic: Personally, I'd be a lot less prone to panic if I could count on the government having my best interest at heart, informing me accurately and timely, and taking every step - precautionary ones included - to protect me.
Trust is what helps prevent panic, not minimization and cover-ups.

They're not trying to prevent panic. That may be their rationalization to themselves - but that's a lie too.

What they are trying to prevent is the public holding them accountable for fixing things.

I only bring this up to support my position that it is government policy to lie to people

If duck and cover worked so well why did they stop using it and why is it ridiculed in the award winning nuclear documentary “Atomic Café”? Why were the civil defense supplies in my school not restocked in timely manner and sufficient quantity to reflect the population growth since 1962? Why didn’t my school Principal know these supplies were even there? The fact is duck and cover might work for simple fission weapons but Hydrogen bombs are thousands of times more powerful, which made the bomber/missile gap moot. One hydrogen bomb could do the work of 1000+ atom bombs so the few thousand each side had in the stockpile at the time were plenty to destroy the civilized world.

As for the advice in the duck and cover video the blinding flash travels at the speed of light you can’t duck it’s blinding glare anymore than you could dodge bullets if you are looking in the direction of the flash and see the fireball you’re blind if you were looking away nobody would have to tell you not to look at it. The thermal effects are nearly as fast acting as the blinding flash if you were fast enough to duck you’d only get 3rd degree burns on most of your body while you were suffocated as the fire storm around you burns up all your air The few percent that survived the initial light, heat and blast would still be as doomed as a Katrina survivor.
