#Fukushima I Nuke Plant: TEPCO Stopped Water Treatment System

The water treatment system for the highly contaminated water at Fukushima I Nuclear Power Plant has been stopped by TEPCO in the early morning of June 18. The system had been on the full "hot" run since 8PM on June 17.

The full run was halted in less than 6 hours due to high radiation level on the cesium absorption towers by Kurion.

The water treatment system is supposed to treat 1,200 tonnes of highly contaminated water every day, or 50 tonnes per hour.

From Yomiuri Shinbun (12:07PM JST 6/18/2011):

 東京電力は18日、福島第一原子力発電所の高濃度汚染水処理システムを同日午前0時54分に停止させたと発表した。

TEPCO announced on June 18 that it stopped the water treatment system for the highly contaminated water at Fukushima I Nuclear Power Plant at 12:54AM on June 18.

 東電は、装置などの故障ではなく、セシウム吸着装置の放射線量が想定より早く基準値に達したためと説明している。処理システムで浄化した水を原子炉に戻す循環注水冷却の同日中の実施は微妙な状況になった。

The stoppage was not due to system malfunction, TEPCO explained. The company stopped the system when the radiation level of the cesium absorption subsystem [by Kurion] had reached the set limit earlier than expected. TEPCO had planned to start the cooling water circulation system whereby the treated water is injected back into the Reactor Pressure Vessels on June 18, but it is not clear whether it will start as scheduled.

The cesium absorption subsystem is set up inside the Central Waste Processing Facility. There are 4 rows of 6 cylinders that contain cesium absorption material [zeolite], and when the radiation level reaches 4 millisieverts/hour the cylinders are to be replaced. According to TEPCO, the system started the full run at 8PM on June 17, but the worker who was remote-operating the system noticed that the radiation measurement device on the surface of the cesium absorption cylinders was 4.7 millisieverts/hour.

The system is a joke.
The radiation numbers are a lie.
The whole way they are handling this mess is a circus.
Creating pieces of "Hell's Fire" around the World, should stop now!
Man isn't smart enough to handle it.
Man's motives of "creating electricity" with it were lies.
He created bombs with the reactors....fools!

Tepco really doesn't have a clue on what's going on. Saving face can be
quite destructive!

The truth is, is that the spread of radiation is a lot worse than what the international community knows and of course what the Japanese know
(although many here suspect it's pretty terrible). The J. gov't and Tepco
have been hiding the true spread of radiation in Fukushima, Miyagi,
Ibaraki, Chiba and Tokyo and for that matter the rest of Japan. I live
here up in Hokkaido and have been following the stats and reports
put out each day by various concerned safety organizations. Man!
It's getting real bad!

Make a chart:

LIFE EXPECTANCY IN A GOV. SAFE ZONE
illustrate it with babies them children then adults and seniors on a graph with values of Amount of time x Location.

That should do the trick!

wait...oooohh they have no idea exactly how dangerous it would be... so its ok not to make a chart because that would be "false" information so we are safer not knowing at all.

This is how government thinks... plausible dependability.

I have lost all respect for Japan. It seems that the average person has been dumbed down just like Americans. TEPCO and the government are wedded just like our corporations and government are intertwined. In other words-fascists! Killing
hundreds of millions, which I believe will turn out to be a conservative estimate when all is said and done, is a worthwhile sacrifice if the TEPCO government can 'save face.' Where are the international experts and what are they doing? It's past time to push these knuckle draggers out of the way. There has to be a better and faster way to deal with this.

I get the sense this nightmare in Japan is going to drag on for a protracted time period. In the meanwhile, the people of Japan are going to keep getting doused with unsafe radioactivity, and all of this is entering the food and water chain...so good luck.

We had radioactivity here in New England, traced from Fukushima, and this is a span of thousands of miles. When will we realize this planet is one big ecosystem?

This too should serve warning on the Powers That Be that are pushing for nuclear war in the middle east, Pakistan, Iran, and elsewhere.......YOU FOOLS won't be able to hide out for long, either.

Woop says: people of Japan, stay strong, I am praying for you all.

Lesson: How to coverup a nuke accident 101

Watch "The Battle of Chernobyl" free on the internet. You won't want to believe such an event happened and that you were kept so in the dark--and still are--of the true tragedy.

The number of hidden deaths and on-going poisonings are chilling. But even worse is the way Gorbachev slips his way out of direct responsibility during the crucial period that the accident happened.

Obviously poisoning the well before the upcoming alien invasion. Just like all those satellites, and oil and chemtrails. Don't take it personally. Man made particles and stuff like BT are especially deadly to the aliens. Irradiating the planet is an old star trek trick to fool the sensors. It makes more sense than what some of you are proposing.

Robbie001 sez:

If this isn't an anomaly then TEPCO's original treatment estimate of $2585 per ton is shot to hell. They were counting on treating 1200 tons per day and getting about 720 hours of filtration per charge. So far at best they can claim 300 tons after 6 hours with a possible 168 hours (1 week) of down time. That works out to about 2 tons per hour when they start again.

(note: I have a typo in my other post I said 3000 I meant 300 [50 tons x 6 hr])

It appears to me that the radiation inside reactor 1 is much higher than TEPCO thought. A wise friend once said, "No one screws things up worse than big business." How unfortunate that big businesses seem to rule this world at the moment.

Folks you need to spend about 95 minutes and watch this video/documentary. Why the hell we are screwing with this crap is mind boggling. What the clean-up crews went through at Chernobyl and the contamination that was spread all over Europe is frightening. Watch the vid:

It should scare the poop out of you!

In case you people didn't get the memo...The plant was hit by a 9.0 quake PLUS a Tsunami...What do you people expect??? You all talk like it was an accident caused by the ineptitude of TEPCO...Get a grip!

@Anon 4:24

The 9.0 quake didn't hit the plant that happened 50 miles or more out to sea. They chose a well know inferior design and they sited it in a earthquake and tsunami zone. TEPCO is totally at fault They chose the height of the tsunami wall. You don't get to make major mistakes like that without it being your fault. Don't tell us about all the government agencies that dropped the ball they dropped it because they are held captive by powerful companies like TEPCO.
