#Radioactive Cement Here We Come!

De facto loosening of standards in radioactive safety is coming fast and furious over in Japan. Shock and awe, sort of.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) is going to allow radioactive sewage sludge to be recycled as cement materials. Starting with the sludge with several hundred becquerels per kilogram of cesium, and gradually expand to the sludge with higher radiation as long as it is "confirmed "safe".

You see, the cement industry is suffering. We've got to help them. The local governments are being flooded with radioactive sewage sludge, We've got to help them. Spread the radiation far and wide, and it will be "safe".

It must be a shock to many Japanese to finally realize that the government ministries are for the benefit of the industries and the ministries themselves, not the citizens and residents of Japan. This is just another proof that the safety and security of the industries ( in the MLIT's case, big ones like construction, railroad, aerospace) is the primary concern of the government, at the expense of "small people".

And I would add that it does make a difference who's at the top. The fish rots from the head. Too bad the rotten head (PM Kan) wasn't taken out, thanks to the silly maneuver by the "space alien" ex-PM Hatoyama.

From Jiji Tsushin (2:34AM JST 6/10/2011):

福島県などの下水処理施設の汚泥から放射性物質が検出された問題で、国土交通省は9日、経済産業省、セメント協会と汚泥のリサイクル再開に向けた最終調整 に入った。放射能濃度が比較的低い汚泥から、セメントの材料に利用する方針で、早ければ来週にも複数のセメント業者が引き取りを再開する見通し。セメント 製品の安全性を確認しながら、段階的に汚泥の利用を拡大する考えだ。

Concerning the radioactive sewage sludge at sewage treatment centers in Fukushima and other prefectures, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) has entered the final negotiation with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and Japan Cement Association to re-start the recycling of the sewage sludge. Recycling will start with the sewage sludge with relatively low level of radiation and use it as cement material. Several cement companies will start taking the sewage sludge as early as next week. If the safety of the cement products is ascertained, the Ministry will gradually expand the use of the sewage sludge [with higher radioactive materials].

Regarding the radioactive sewage sludge, the national government issued a guideline in mid May that part of the sludge could be used in cement. However, as there is no system to check the safety, the cement industry has halted taking the sludge. Normally, about 40 percent of the sewage sludge is recycled. Municipalities are having a hard time securing the storage space [after the sludge has been found to be radioactive].

The safety of the sewage sludge is to be ascertained by the local municipalities who will regularly monitor the radiation. As to the safety of the cement product, cement companies will conduct the test so that the radiation level falls within the limit set by the law that governs nuclear reactors, nuclear fuels and materials. Municipalities will conduct the test several times a week, and if the radiation level is about several hundred becquerels per kilogram, the cement companies will take the sludge.

Radioactive Japan. That's what's going to be as long as these government and industry elites run the place.

How long will it take for the Japanese are beginning to wake up and show their displeasure against the company systematically poisoning the country? Expect people to express their dissatisfaction with the uselessness of these elites?
In all cases, as you write, the government and ministries have chosen their priorities, the money! ! !
The population may well die, who cares! How can people accept this?

Personally, their attitude of secrecy, denial of reality and evidence, generates the opposite effect with me. How to have confidence in every Japanese product (food) if the government and enterprises (eg ALSOK) walk hand in hand to poison the whole country? The result is likely to be inversely proportional to their lies?

This country is screwed up, I have no hope for him as you will feel no wind to get up again ...

several hundred beqs per kilogram...a bit vague isnt it? i suppose that makes the tea ok then? where are they going to put this stuff? roads? housing? schools? hospitals? exports? the mind boggles? what about any health effects to the workers that have to use it? when it dries wont there be some dust released? wont the radioactivity degrade the cement ie chernobyl sarcophogas? and then turn it into alot of dust?
will it degrade the support metal work inside the concrete and weaken the structure in a country prone to earthquakes? i suspect i could go on but i wont....well done are honourable and future generations will understand this if the present population doesnt...god bless all

If radioactive cement is so safe why doesn't the nuclear industry "waterdown" their waste in all the concrete they use every year? Suddenly Japan is find all these different ways to "safely" sequester nuclear waste that were totally unthinkable just a few short months ago. The rest of the world are chumps because they waste money and time trying to keep radiation under control. By the end of this disaster eating raw reactor fuel will be deemed OK because it doesn't cause "immediate" harm.

This decision appears to reflect a misunderstanding of the nature of radioactive contamination.
Cement making is a very high temperature process and most pollutants are disrupted by it at the molecular level.
Unfortunately, radioactivity is at the atomic level and is entirely unaffected by the conditions inside a cement kiln, although the more volatile radioactive materials will get re emitted into the surrounding air.
This site had an earlier set of measurements which indicated that two thirds of the radioactive contamination in sewage sludge was emitted to the environment in the calcification process, with the balance in the cement.
It will be necessary to change the way Japan manages the sewage sludge, a costly and contentious task, as no one wants truckloads of radioactive sludge in their community. However, the the current approach, which is to deliberately recycle the radioactive pollution into the community, is just irrational.

Cemento :

Unthinkable ? Not at all. I was reported this discussion among high level french nuke workers some ten or fifteen years ago: from the very start nuclear waste disposal has only been a bet that technology would make it possible someday someway. The bet was wrong, it seems, as the amount of waste is growing. So this proposition : store the waste in the concrete of highways, bridges... places where people stay only a very short time.
Do not blame the French : I am sure every nuke country came to the same idea. Wether you do it or not is another question.

I'm sure that cement is already radioactive

Isn't most sewage sludge organic material? Or is there a translation issue here?

@anon from 11:52AM, why don't you set up your own blog site, instead of writing here? Easy enough to set up.

What then, caused the explosions? The containment walls were at their thinnest points in the lowest allowed General Electric design a minimum of 4 foot thick steel reinforced concrete, were likely to be a minimum of 8 feet thick, and were totally blown away. All concrete was stripped from the rebar, which was left dangling. Reactor 3 vanished entirely,as seen in the classified photo used to compare the destruction to the diagram and reactor 4 appears to have been blown to pieces as seen in this classified photo The yellow dome which should be sitting on top of reactor 4 can be clearly seen on the wrong side of the containment building. This type of destruction is is indicative of hard weaponry in use; a hydrogen air mix will not do that. Reactors are not made out of tinfoil. On top of this, there was no potential for an explosion at reactor 4 at all, it had been defueled. SO WHAT, PRAY TELL, BLEW IT APART? That's the dirty question no one is asking - how did that happen?

To give you an idea of how big the reactors at Fukushima were, look at this. It's the top of the same make and model at Fukushima's American twin, TVA owned Brown's Ferry, and it is only the top. The yellow dome sits above this, and is even bigger. (here the yellow dome has been removed for refueling). over 150 feet of reactor sits below that cap. Hydrogen will not vaporize that, which appears to be what happened to #3, only a nuclear weapon would. Reactors are about 14 digits beyond incapable of going supercritical even with a complete core meltdown. The reactors did not explode, something placed in their vicinity did.

Magna BSP had access to the reactors at this facility. They were based in Dimona, which is a military base that manufactures nuclear weapons. Stuxnet was made in their yard. They are stated to be a military company.

There is extremely strong evidence that Dimona based Magna BSP placed nuclear weapons at the exploded or vanished reactors at Fukushima, possibly hidden inside one of their unbelievably GIANT stereoscopic cameras. These cameras were installed inside the reactor containment of Fukushima reactor 3 under the cover of a security contract in the year prior to the disaster. These cameras are identical in size and appearance to a gun type nuclear weapon. Since previous hydrogen explosions at boiling water reactors have never caused any sort of damage to equipment or buildings, even during complete meltdowns, it begs the question how on earth one at reactor 3 produced a mushroom cloud. Three Mile Island sits in the evidence pool against what we have been told about Fukushima. History does matter.

One problem with the reporting in the mainstream media is that it failed to convey just how massive and strong the containment structures really were, as seen in this classified photo. A hydrogen explosion would only blow the sheet metal off the steel framed roof if it even did that, at Three Mile Island the hydrogen ignition did nothing at all. It just scared employees. Another thing the reporting failed to convey is the gravity of the disaster. Compare the containment diagram to the remains of reactor 3. It is painfully obvious that many tons of highly radioactive plutonium in the containment pools is nowhere to be found, the entire floor they were on is completly gone. We are getting lied to.

That was a LOT more than a hydrogen blast, and as a result there are thousands of pounds of plutonium scattered everywhere. TEPCO was ridiculed for initially stating that the radiation from the facility was "immeasurable". I think they at first told the truth. Now they have this story about the Fukushima 50. Is it in fact a "wag the dog"? No one could be there and live. Why is remote controlled heavy equipment doing the cleanup? The official story is hydrogen blasts, not nukes, so the story line has to at least be within the far outer limits of what a hydrogen blast could actually accomplish; not missing reactors and entire fuel pools blown away.

NO doubt! What a frigging moron I don't know why Areva is is allowing this Jim Stone SPAM to keep popping up it is utter BS. Israel controls the world and can visit nuclear devastation on a whim but they can't kill one delusional douche in a plausible accident. They can Stuxnet a foreign reactor but they can't knock his webpage off line. I'm sure his website disclaimer has MOSSAD shaking in their boots. "If my site goes down you know why" pfffth! The Isareli's could shoot Jim Stoned in the head with bullets shaped like the Star of David and it would barely make it into Tin Foil Beenie Daily much less any real news sources.

If his disinformation campaign wasn't detracting from the actual events as they unfold I wouldn't care but I'm starting to wish his (still) poorly crafted delusion was true so the Israeli's would shut him up...Oy Vey!

@ Robbie001: your input is always valuable, please don't waste your time with this.

Please ignore the aircraft carrier, Israel etc stuff, moderate if necessary.

Sorry guys.. I have no control over that stupid Google span filter! It filters out Robbie001 and other legit posters and lets in those strange posts about israel one after another. I guess I could delete them.

I think we have had enough exposure to Jim Stone stuff, so next time I will flag it as spam and see if Google learns.

I kind of like the idea of aircraft carrier, though, without even knowing if it's technically feasible. I think lots of Japanese just want to scrape that plant off the surface of the earth.

Unfreaking believable.

I used to think people were nuts when they suggested that Fukushima was engineered on purpose.

Idiotic actions like this make me wonder if that isn't indeed the case. How else can such organized reckless disregard for human life be explained?

Thank you, but I'm just a commenter like you. I don't have moderation power outside of my comments . Arevamirpal::laprimavera is the owner and main contributor for this excellent blog. I'm sure Areva is pretty busy generating articles so it is hard to fault him for the caliber of the comments especially when Jim Stone is fighting a spam war.

Thanks for your efforts Areva I know it's gotta be a pain to babysit the spam filter but I'd start deleting future Jim Stoned based spam when possible. Unfortunately disorganized thinkers make for organized disinformation. How happy would the nuclear industry be if its few critics were derailed into fantasy land extreme fringe discussions while their blog comments are polluted with inanity? I don't mind the occasional "let's nuke the nukes" nonsense even the aircraft carrier was amusing (until it became a broken record) but Jim's last mega blast of BS should be the last if possible. I would leave the old stuff and point to it if necessary in future.

I've only responded to the poorly crafted theories and suggestions because they keep popping up in different article comments and I don't want people to waste their time looking at one side of the coin. Jim Stone came on here and claim detailed "research" and "knowledge" on the subject when he was soundly refuted he went back and tried to polish his turd. Sorry, Jimmy refined BS is still BS!

J Stoned revised remarks:
"Thank you to the many (CRITICS) readers who pointed out (GAPING) flaws, gave tips (like stop posting), and suggested clarifications like (Banner page ad "Jim Stoned Freelance Kook": Couldn't think his way out of wet paper sack) you studied this indeed!" (Reading the back of a cereal box is harder than refuting your ignorance)

Don't mention it Mr. Stoned with all the heavy drugs you must do it's probably hard to do things (like think coherently). If you keep polishing that turd of a theory between bong hits your future destiny in mommy's basement is assured.

J Stoned:
"My thanks also goes out to the (fringe) radio hosts who never vet their sources and have to fill air time with looney BS. BTW, this article was written via bong hit entry, without spelk charck. Cornsider dat."

WOW! Jim You're God or an IDIOT SAVANT!

Actually I liked my "build a rocket around it and shoot it to the Sun" idea. It's just as unworkable as a carrier tow job but with rockets. (& the waste really goes away (^^))

BTW my rocket runs on zero point energy so it's totally "unpossible".

Actually you are wrong.
Radiation continues to leak even though Cement has entombed Chernobyl..Cement is jut PR..
It allows the radiation to be transfered like a permanent virus from one specific location to another ..It is deaccumulation...thus places like Eastern Japan unaffected by Fukushima will begin to expereince Radiation poisoning in transference.

They are Managing the Public and not the Problem.
While the IAEA was being manipulated to find weapons of mass destruction in countries the US/Israel wee anxious to go to war in...manipulating a consensus for War...with Iraq, Iran...instead of doing their job...actually preventing General Electric Seimens Controllers and their inherent flaws from destroying countries and people...
All the Government/Tepco seems worried about now is money..managing the people not the problem!

LOL. I've been looking for Godzilla movie clip I saw once on Youtube. It's Godzilla destroying a nuclear power plant which was modeled after Hamaoka Nuke Plant in Shizuoka (the one that was temporarily shut down by the PM's order).

Let me know if anybody can find that clip.
