Idiosyncratic Japan: "Let's Do Japan - Manganizer" Ad by ANA

Speaking of clicking ads...

Zero Hedge is one of the sites I regularly go for financial news. The site uses Google AdSense. Today, the top banner is this creepy ad from All Nippon Airways (ANA) displayed especially for me:

WTF? I clicked it, costing ANA a few cents and benefiting Zero Hedge and Google. This is where I landed:

Then I remember the pledge by the Japanese national government to promote "Cool Japan" (a fine example of Japlish, the meaning of which is only known - no, actually guessed at - by the Japanese). ANA, I believe, is doing the bidding of the government by launching this ad campaign which is possibly being paid for by the government.

Come to Japan, the land of manga, on ANA's Boeing 787 Dreamliner which may or may not catch fire...

And Akiba Cafe....

Ughhh.....

WTF, indeed.

I wonder if the Cool Japan promotion has anything to do with the NHK program of the same name?

Let's *DO* Japan? What geniuses did not even run this by *one* native speaker, who would no doubt have doubled over in suppressed hysterics.

From the nation that names its vehicles "Naked" and the eternal "Bongo". Japlish is funny, often sexist, certainly not sophisticated or "cool".

Meanwhile, let's give a cheer for that Fukushima rat, who gave its short life to the cause of notifying the world what a tenuous grip on safety there is in our least favorite npp.

Japan is anything but cool, even in it's aspects I like. It's not hot either, it's hard, die hard.
Mind control by the Japanese Maffia : be cool.
Insane and strict inner communication - WTF if foreigners know that a whore does clients - "cash cows".
Or a subconcious manipulation, just as well.
Japanese ads on TV are more and more using French songs, words, images that make the Japanese daydream.
Absurd in a rationale thinking. Not absurd in an adviser's thinking, hehe. Far from awkward.
So I'm still wondering about this let's do Japan that made me smile when I spotted it.

Typical stereotypical images of foreigners in the manganizer. Nothing ever changes.

First thing that come to mind reading the banner, and I'm female, is--- "Visit Japan to fuck guys left and right all over the country in hardcore manga style, including finding a monster offering tentacle sex!"

NOT HAPPENING. NOT COOL.

Oh and I forgot, what's a swordless samurai in their manga? Is that like Hanzo The Razor?

DEFINITELY NOT HAPPENING. DEFINITELY NOT COOL.

How do you say "let's do Japan" in Japanese? 日本をやろうぜ?

It rightly belongs on Zero Hedge as a banner. :-O
