#Fukushima I Nuke Plant Pond Leak of April 2013: TEPCO Started Transfering 900 Tonnes of Post-RO Waste Water from Pond No.2 to a Steel Tank, Will Take 6 Days

OK, so it will be 150 tonnes per day, using temporary pipes and a temporary tank between the Pond No.2 and the final destination which is about 550 meters away.

The Reverse Osmosis apparatus is currently operated intermittently, according to TEPCO (handout for the press in Japanese, 4/16/2013).

From the 58-page handout for the press conference given by the TEPCO president Hirose (4/17/2013):

In-the-ground water storage ponds and where the RO waste water is going. Green line in the map is where the waste water from the Pond 2 is traveling:

The physical setup to transfer the waste water in the Pond No.2 to a steel tank in H2 area. (I seems to be hallucinating the leak already...):

In the handout, I don't find any reference to any effort to make any of the temporary contraptions since March 11, 2011 into a permanent, stable one.

Here's page 26, showing photographs of electrical panel for the Reactor 2 Spent Fuel Pool cooling system, which was rigged up after the accident. "Look what we found! A small animal (rat) can get inside!" So what did TEPCO do? Cover the lines with plastic sheets:

From my experience in living in a countryside, rats and mice can easily chew through plastic sheets.

I hear that Mr. Naomi Hirose, TEPCO's president, is a very smart guy, with MBA from Yale University. He's from sales and marketing, and not an engineer. He was in charge of TEPCO's highly successful push for "all-electric" homes, which significantly boosted the electricity consumption in large cities, which in turn was used to justify building more nuclear power plants. Yale MBA Program apparently wrote it up as a case study. I'd love to see it.

I can see that he is indeed an MBA, as he sets up a new "communication" department to better communicate with the press, the government, and citizens as if communication is what's wrong with TEPCO and Fukushima I Nuclear Power Plant.

( OT )
Mr Palindrome,
the April 15 Boston video loads up automagically even today, happilly it's not in a loop.
Might be my browser, Mozilla on Linux.
Not a big fuss anyway, and I appreciate your blog.

Tepco reported to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission that "it could not confirm [the existence] of data showing that the faults [running right under reactors 1 and 2 at Kashiwazaki Kariwa npp] might be active": 「活断層の可能性を示すデータは確認できなかった」(NHK)

I guess this means that they do not know whether the fault is active or not. Why would anyone operate a npp sitting on top of a fault line, be it active or not, escapes me.

Unfortunately a Japanese court just ruled that since there is no agreement among experts on whether the faults running below the Oi plant are active (one expert of the commission in charge said he is not sure the faults are active) the plant is safe.

Since yesterday before noon the whole of Japan is rocked by earthquakes: the sea close to Miyake island 5+, Miyagi 5- but also Ishigaki island, Yonaguni island, Kushiro in Hokkaido and the sea facing Chiba and Tokyo).

If they can't agree there are faults or not, the logical, cautious and intelligent decision should be that it isn't safe.

It's like if they had a gun pointed to their head, but they can't agree whether there's a bullet in the chamber. Does that make it safe? I don't think so.

"successful push for 'all-electric' homes".
As a marketeer, Hirose must have been doing valuable observations in France then ;-)

If plutonium is bad for you the civilian population of japan is truly dead. Want to argue? Then I will say it with my fist http://fukushima-diary.com/2012/09/10502-bqkg-from-karuizawa-nagano-253km-from-fukushima/7/
IDIOTS the lot of you/me too because I am the same species, there's the proof japan is gone, was it worth it? It was obviously justified, even to this day the impending deaths of the flora/fauna/ civilian population young and old IS STILL BEING JUSTIFIED Otherwise steps would be taken to make the odds of this happening again an impossibility DUH=DEAD/PROOOOVEN.
Polluting all that water wouldn't have been needed if they would have truly had cold shutdown by melting neutron poisons into the melted fuel and poisoned the fucking over 20 million horsepower equivalent of heat from the uncontrolled, unmoderated fissioning 88 ton cores. Humanity=assholes/PROVEN.

It's to big to fuck up, now you're all gobsmacked with a stupid look on your faces with the plan being "look like we have a plan"<true story. Allthewhile the hole gets deeper. Keep ohi running in such a place, start up some others, onward and upward, have some more of your country made unlivable, I mean your country's huge right? You can afford to lose some land say for a lowball figure of 1000 years, you can afford the financial cost your debt to declining national income is only something like 2500%. Your genetics are strong and can recover and repair themselves from nuclear scrambling/deletion and reproductive failure and your offspring can repair themselves when born abnormal mentally and physically/sarc. You kill the fetus if it's physically incorrect, correct. Ahh the superficiality of it, because it's well known the most complicated structure of a human is the brain, can you "see" abnormalities in a fetal brain should the fetus exhibit correct physicality? They will have to be born to "see" if they are mentally correct, what will you do then to a mentally challenged baby or toddler already begun their journey through life? Will you end it to keep up the fucking charade? I THINK YOU WILL! Your behavior thus far allows for some quite succinct clarity. You fucking animals.

7:33PM, 7:41PM, 7:55PM = Finnish troll

It's amazing how your written English keeps getting better and better. You still have to get a handle on CAPS and backslashes but I commend you on your restraint in freaking out and erroneously calling everyone who posts here "nukelubers" and Jesuits.
