Comment Section of This Blog

In case some of the readers haven't figured out, there are certain things you need to know.

First, this is my personal blog, not a public, free-topic forum. I haven't actively censored the comments (except for whatever Google decides to put in the SPAM folder, which is a real pain), but I can, and I will if the current situation continues.

What is the current situation as I see it?

  • Totally off-topic (i.e. unrelated to the post that the comment section is attached to) comments on religions, personal attacks or ridicules on posters who some readers don't agree with;

  • And these comments just keep going on and on.

I have kept the comment section of the blog open, so that people can share information, opinions and ideas RELATING TO the on-going nuclear crisis in Japan and the posts that I write. I welcome criticism to the posts, as well as criticism on other posters that you may disagree with, in a civil way.

However, I do not tolerate persistent personal attacks, and comments on religions that have very little to do with the posts or this blog which has been covering the events in Japan since March 11.

If the current situation continues, I will start actively removing the posts that I believe may be discouraging other people from posting comments and information by totally crowding out others.

BTW, I hope you are regularly backing up your blog. It is being hosted on Google servers so they can wipe your blog off the map anytime.

What you are seeing in the comment area is a reflection of the lack of many places on the net where people can comment without censorship; where people can comment anonymously.

I totally understand your desires about the comment section, please temper your feelings with the awareness that the inability to openly communicate was part of the reason this (potentially) world ending disaster happened in the first place!

Anonymous said...

As far as the above comment goes, I'd take the backup advice.

I could even be construed as one of the 'worst offenders' w/"personal attacks".

But let's be honest, most are probably surprised by obvious spam trolling, that it has been allowed for this long. "personal attacks" are what you get when it has gone on too long.
No apologies on that score, if it isn't credible from an adult, THEN IT ISN'T.

You have done an excellent job ex-SKF in covering this disaster.
Cut out the spamster and you're good.

Bravo! I lurk heavily and try to quietly sip from the edge of the river of information. You should be commended for the work you do. All the best my friend.

Kudos for the time and effort you put into your blog. I understand how someone thumping bible quotes can get on anyone's nerves but agree with the first commenter in that censorship is rampant on the net and people need an outlet. Some of the comments, while irritating, are quite amusing, nevertheless. Gives it that Zero Hedge feel.

This is simply a sign of your success. The vast majority of visitors silently appreciate the service you are providing. You put the main stream media to shame. Please keep us informed of what you need to continue your excellent work.

Ultraman, thank you for your tireless dedication in bringing us the news MSM won't touch. Do you want us to stop the personal attacks on Japanese polititians, Japanese farmers, Japanese livestock breeders, Japanese school boards, TepCo execs and the whole nuke industry too, or is it just against the religious zealots? What about Clinton on a pitchfork? Is that going too far?

Anonymous said...

I normally just read the main page and don't get as far as the comments, but I visit this blog daily and I just thought I would let you know that I appreciate the hard work that you do so much, you are doing a great service to Japan/people in Japan by providing this information openly. Thank you.

It is obvious what this blogger is saying:

No off topic remarks
No insulting (ridiculous) personal attacks on others

Pretty simple to understand isn't? The excuse that people can't comment somewhere else freely so they come here to vent their frustrations and then think they have Carte Blanche to insult other people is foolish.

If they want to do that, they can start their own blog.

I am deleting idiotic comments once a day at my blog and I do not tolerate insulting other readers either.

Keep up the good work. It's your blog, do as you wish. If people don't like it, then just like when you go into a restaurant or bar that allows smoking, if you don't like it, there's something at the front that has hinges on it and it is called a "door" use it.

Anonymous said...

I want Clinton on a pitchfork, but that's a side thought.

As an anti-capitalist, I've been rather surprised that I've wanted to post on this blog at all, but I think my linking to German and French articles about Fukushima and my comments about thyroid problems and DU shells are relevant to the Japanese crisis.

I want the Japanese people to live and defend themselves. If that means entering weird alliances with sworn-in capitalists, I guess we all have to live with that.

Otherwise, it would be regrettable to live, but I've been through worse (civil war, DU shells, poverty in the US) so I can handle being banned from a blog for mocking a racist or a stupid politician.

Anonymous said...

typo, long vowel: *to leave.

Of course, just living under current conditions can be regrettable too.

What about the insulting personal attack on the major of Yokohama. Someone called her the "b" word. Someone else suggested we throw TEPCO executives into the reactors. Why is it okay in these instances?

Anonymous said...

Areva, love you, but would like to make a suggestion. Why not threaten to nuke those who cannot construct sentences or use punctuation because that irritates the crap out of the average commenter much more than someone wanting Clinton on a pitchfork(is there room for Bush, Jr. and Sr.?). Trust me on this one.

Nuclear Skeptic said...

I strongly endorse the removal of all off-topic comments. They tolerate it over at enenews.com where registered participants will happily post hysterical drivel totally unconnected to the topic/thread/opening-post. It is ruining enenews, and it will ruin this blog too if you let it go too far.

Nobody is defending anonymous statements to throw TEPCO executives into the reactors. It is not okay. If they have committed a crime of corporate malfeasance or causing the world's worst industrial accident through gross negligence to a criminal degree, let them have a fair trial and then suffer in jail for a few decades, arguably a worse fate than a quick death from hyper-acute radiation poisoning. Maybe the international criminal court has a better chance of convicting these "prima facie crooks" than any Japanese court.

Anonymous said...

To criticize public figures like mayor of Yokohama or TEPCO execs or Clinton is one thing. Totally another to attack other commenters with language that is used more in kindergartens than in middle schools.

Anonymous said...

I've come out of lurk mode for this. Correct me if I am wrong but is the last poster suggesting that it is all right to attack public figures but not all right to attack a fellow calling Roman Catholics assassins and Muslims murderers. I am, in normal circumstances, a non-violent practicing Hindu, yet I found myself thinking the latter gent is a fist magnet of the first magnitude.

Dear Arevamirpal -- Thank you for taking this step. The persistent and absurd anti-semitic and anti-catholic comments from some of your readers are shameful, distracting and counterproductive. This blog provides valuable factual information not otherwise available in English -- information that should reach a wider audience. Permitting such comments reduces the credibility of the information in the blog text, and alienates many who might otherwise read the blog.

I've been a lurking fan of this blog for about three months. I totally disagree with the people who are complaining about "censorship." The administrator of this blog (what should we call you? For now I'll go with Areva-san) obviously devotes a lot of time and effort to making this a clean, clear, and informative place to visit. More and more, certain people are leaving completely unrelated posts in the comments section, without even bothering to acknowledge the blog entry which Areva-san worked so hard to research and translate for us. I find this behavior very disrespectful to both the Admin and the other readers. There are zillions of other blogs where these people can comment, or they can easily start their own, rather than taking advantage of Areva-san's success to get their messages out.

I trust Areva-san to make good editorial decisions as far as editing comments, just as I trust him to bring us relevant news. If I find I start to disagree with his choices, I can always walk away and go someplace else, just as anybody else here can. This is a website, not a prison.

Many thanks, Areva-san, for all your hard work.

Dear laprimavera, I'm writing from Italy, I have been following your blog for long time, let me just say something here, since it can be IT with the post:): Thank You.
I left Japan with my kid less than two weeks ago and if I took this decision is also thanks to the information I started reading here.
Before that, I was still convinced that where I was living it was safe (a bit in doubt though!)...I cannot speak Japanese and was just arrived in Japan,I had not so many sources of information...you provided me with all that I needed and wanted to know.
Keep up with the good job, many people appreciate it and need it.

From Italy again:
Ah, before there are misunderstandings...I was ironic about being IT here, I am sure you are not looking for people saying thank you to you. However, I felt the need to say it now:), same as many other readers.

And also here.

I am really sorry. I used the Google translator and didn't check the text and it went all wrong.

This is what I meant to write:

I thank you arevamirpal.

because governments act the same way all around the world.

Of course comments should be on topic, but why when someone makes an off topic comment about "Hitler" and "fascism", those off the cuff comments are acceptable? Even though most people making the comments are just spewing ignorant propaganda, people who make startling corrections to the conventional wizdumb are then censored. Hypocrisy and lies abound on the internet.

Of course ... still for some reason hitler accusations will be kept flowing freely as ever... he is the MSM-darling in every Fairy Tale fed to global mushrooms.

Only his cath0lic roots, mates, must be kept hidden because that is ‘slander’. It is dangerous = forbidden to leave a reader in doubt.

Likewise the deeds of his 'solutions' minister hajj Amin al Husein, fmr mufti err butcher of J'lem, sad dams uncle, belong into the absolute nono –category.

Russian occupation of Karelia?? LOL couple of times!! Karelia is Russian now, we win it in war. What about you use same logic and give Sami people back their land. LOL this troll.

Anonymous said...

Justa a fact; Occupation ... after 'winning' that piece of Finland in the war. (Bigger than the 'palestine'.).

As ‘we started the war’ (psst. four grenades shot fron CCCP into CCCP) – we had to pay that war crime: We had to ‘pay’ by ten years of Finn GDP worth of machinery into CCCP. However, that bldy hoax created our heavy industry – thus leading into Finland world market leadership in papermill industry, base for Nokia etcetc.

Luckily brwn pants didn’t 'win' all, otherwise Finland would be ruins and all its citizens would have perished in the jesuit-Stalins gulags with the other 147.000.000 mrdered. (ref. Liternatuja Rossija 1992)

Economic Pantsy Note: biggest GDP economic gap between 'nations' the dirt poor Karelian/Finn border. There would be no Nokias, high living std under a your ‘winning’ redputin brutal occupation...

.

Btw. SKF. Is this txt above also 'off the topic' condemnable Facts from History? Or should the readers stay under that MSM-lie forever?

Anonymous said...

P.S. I do really like Russians - not occupying CCCP 'TEPCO-class' mass mrderers - which is totally from another planet. Also I do have many Russian friends agreeing... Poor pantsy citizens - are all kept poor, irradiated under brutal jsuital occupation.

Anonymous said...

Very sorry for off topic, Arevamirpal. Only in this section if you permit.

OCTOBER 22, 2011 3:17, You don't answer my question. Why Finn don't give back Sami(t) people their land? Why Finn destroy their northern forest with logging so reindeer cannot eat lichen growing on trees in winter?

You are LOL eco-troll warrior having problem with relative poverty of Russian Karelia but no problem with making them rich like Finn so they can afford to drink more vodka than Russian(Finn's do) and listening to popular Finn heavymetal band while getting brain cancer from talking, at same time, on crappy Nokia cell phone in only country(Finland) in world not touched by hand of bloodthirsty Jesuit. LOL and LOL. So faulty logic. It's poor rural villages in Russian Karelia but they have rich social life like all Russians to counter hardship and poverty. Like I said, it's relative.

How come even today some Sami(t) people still want to herd reindeer in Finn north and not live in Helsinki with Nokia (crappy)phone stuck to ear all day? How come persons from Fukushima dream so badly to go back to his/her small home on beautiful coast instead of getting compensation from TEPCO and moving to Tokyo.

BTW 100,000 children live below poverty line in Finland--same amount as whole population in Southern Karelia.

Anonymous said...

LOL.

Alas, Then the Facts:

The Finn-idiots let the Sami roam free with their skii-doo’s and special grazing rights like in Sweden, Norway... I couldn’t care less. While no such people exists any more in CCCP: Tsheka minced them with NKVD in the killing fields archipelago... almost 100 yrs ago. The 147 million murdered is beyond understanding...

Research - no, I know you will not, but other readers - Solzhenitsyn. Here's some easygo - where putin schemes Finland also to go: One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich (Part 1 of 10)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_XFkKN2fzQ

Putin schemes: Did ya ppl know that Russian TV shows daily a map where Sweden and Finland, Poland is annexed into mother CCCP, shown here 2005. Exactly via the same jsuital lines Stalin/Ribbentrop agreed to divide scandinavia in 1939. Here’s a linky to the CCCP TV-news map:

Finns are poor, sure. LOL. The poorest is a millionaire in Karelia. Biggest income gap in the world. Also a Fact anyone can verify by himself.

Hello. TROLL. Gimme your Next Fairy Tale. Maybe from flat Bombed Chechnya 2005? Or its Scud vaporized democratically elected president, Dudajev RIP 1995?

Why to stop at particular date/ time? Maybe we should go back little bit further prior to 1907 when Grand Principality of Finland belonged to Russian Empire. So!, LOL give Finland back to Russia! Putin is Czar already anyway!

Actually there's a clear indication that Russia was coming a real world economic power just then. Thus the jsuit managed Revolution using stooges like Lenin etc... All private enterprise - Russian intelligentsia and talent - had to be sunk into the Taiga swamp gulags.

One note about the economics, the income gap: in 1992 one fast-food served here was about 20FIM. This was equivalent of a good workers monthly pension in over the border Karelia. Meaning one a week's holiday trip, one could not - COULD NOT - use a Finn pocket change of 100FIM.

You mean New Occupation, genocide? Yes, truly you say here what you jsuits are always after... Never enough poor countries, irradiated folks. However, you will eat again your own salad - like Lenin the nauseating mausoleum corpse, god of CCCP:
